WORLD RANGER DAY 2021 – 31ST JULY
This World Ranger Day 2021, The Kenya Wildlife Service wishes to Celebrate and Honor Rangers world over who are working tirelessly and putting their lives on the line every day to ensure that our wildlife and natural habitats stay protected.
Guardians of Parks “Support a KWS Ranger”
Kenya Wildlife Service Adoption Programme presents a distinctive opportunity for Kenyan citizens, residents, and non-residents to participate and support wildlife and habitat conservation for the benefit of the present and future generation. The programme is open to ALL because conservation is a collective responsibility.
Guardians of Parks “Support a Ranger” is one of the initiatives under this programme. It is wrapped around the existence of a KWS ranger and highlights their role amidst the challenges facing wildlife conservation in Kenya.
We wish to foster collaborations that recognize and honor these rangers as they break the mold and barriers to shape a new future of wildlife conservation and drive the cause to greater heights. The support ranges from individuals, governments, international organizations coupled with modern technology. Rangers remain on the frontline’s crossfire fighting poachers, loggers in a bid to protect our natural heritage. We support and celebrate them for going above and beyond the call of duty under harsh climatic conditions, difficult terrain and the untold dangers they face day in day out, as they execute their mission.
The needs of a ranger: Equipment( vehicles, night visions, cameras), Decent housing, Uniforms, Welfare (food), Fallen rangers support (families), Capacity buildings & training
A ranger’s work is dynamic and includes monitoring wildlife, combating poaching, engaging local communities, managing fires among other important conservation activities.
Rhinos around the world are facing extinction, but the Nairobi National Park has a healthy population
Hell’s Gate National Park is the only protected area hosting the critically endangered Ruppell’s griffon vulture (Gyps rueppellii) in Kenya.
This Year Join us in Celebrating our Ranger’s sacrifice, commitment to duty and Bravery Beyond Expectation as they oversee and protect our Parks and Wildlife. World Rangers Day – 31st July 2021. This year we mark the day at Kenya Wildlife Service Law Enforcement Academy (LEA), Manyani
