Located in Ol Kokwe Island, the home of the Njemp tribe in lake Baringo, the Island Camp, Lake Baringo is just the place you would dream to have your vacation.
Boat Excursions
Take a morning boat ride around Ol Kokwe and Rock of Gibraltar with an exprienced bird and animal guide who can call and feed fish eagles. Morning light is best for bird photography. Longer boat excursions around the lake including “Giraffe Island” can also be arranged. The island is on the Ruko conservancy.
Several years ago 8 giraffe were brought by ferry to the island which was then a peninsula with the plan that when the lake dried up more they would locate to the mainland. With the unexpected rise in water levels they are now isolated on the island with other wildlife including ostriches, impala, rock hyraxes and large monitor lizards.
Renovated in 2013, this camp comprises now only 11 Deluxe Tents and Superior Tented Cottages of which 7 Deluxe en-suite tents and 4 superior Tented cottages with private plunge pool.
Thats with en-suite bathroom, whether twin, double or triple(families).
All tents are shaded by a roof of Papyrus (local reeds) and are separated by green lawns and natural rockeries. They overlook the lake and beyond the Great Rift Valley.
The Superior Tented Cottages offer in addition a private plunge pool with views over the peaceful lake.
Most of these accommodations face the East to catch the beautiful sunrises across lake.
