Sharing Moments with Hardik Shiva Vyas at the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary
RETETI ELEPHANT SANCTUARY – COMMUNITY UNITED FOR ELEPHANTS
Greetings Universe,
The definition of an elephant is a very large plant-eating mammal with a prehensile trunk, long curved ivory tusks, and large ears, native to Africa and southern Asia. It is the largest living land animal, Elephants are revered as a symbol of good luck, prosperity, destroyer of evil, remover of obstacles, as well as strength, power, wisdom, memory, and vitality.
In Indian culture the elephant is worshipped in the form of Lord Ganesha the son of the Powerful God of Gods the Almighty Shiva. The large elephant head of Lord Ganesha symbolizes wisdom, understanding, and a discriminating intellect that one must possess to attain perfection in life. He is the remover and destroyer of all obstacles in life. The wide mouth represents the natural human desire to enjoy life in the world. The right tusk represents wisdom and the left tusk represents emotion.
The Retiti Elephant Sanctuary is one of the most unique care and rescue centers of Kenya in Africa which is run by the women warriors of the Samburu land. These Godsent individuals have given their lives to rescuing, protecting, nurturing and releasing this beautiful symbol of strength and peace on earth.
Their story remains unique and they need to be heard and supported in every way possible, Please watch the Shaba, a Short Film by Ami Vitale and promote this sanctuary in maintaining and helping our elephants to enhance their work and love for them to the next level during this pandemic and in future to increasing the numbers back in Africa. The protection and preservation of this earth and our animals is our prescribed duty as humans to ensure we correct what we have destroyed to near extinction and give this universe a new beautiful beginning by respecting nature as a God given gift to us
As we just celebrated World Elephant Day on 12th of August 2021 – dedicated to the preservation and protection of the world’s elephants,
lets keep in mind and appreciate the great and wonderful work that the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary have been doing in the past few years.

Shaba was rescued in November 2016 from Shaba National Reserve in November 2016, after poachers shot her mother dead. At 2 years old, Shaba became the first matriarch of the Reteti herd. She was released back to the wild in May 2019.

Thanking you
The Universe
Reteti was established in 2016 and aims to rescue, reunite, rehabilitate and rewild orphaned and abandoned elephant calves whilst creating much needed benefits to the local Samburu people that live alongside them.
The sanctuary takes in orphaned and abandoned elephant calves with an aim to release them back into the wild herds adjoining the Reteti.
Reteti Elephant Sanctuary is the first community owned and run elephant orphanage in Africa. It is situated in the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy located in the remote Samburu Mathew Ranges in Northern Kenya
There are 37 well trained, passionate keepers from the local community that give an all around the clock love and care for these Reteti Babies. Each elephant needs a special milk formula every 3 hours during the day and night. The Reteti (R.E.S.C.U.E) is supported by the Sarara Foundation and relies on Tourism and Donations to continue the great work that they do
Its my humble request to humans of earth to kindly donate in any way possible and support Reteti (R.E.S.C.U.E) toward veterinary care, rescue costs, milk, as well as operational costs of the stables and the salaries of the incredible elephant keepers, without whom none of these calves would be alive today.
