Let’s Welcome the Newly Appointed General Manager of Nairobi Serena Hotel
Mr. Anthony Chege was recently appointed as the new General Manager for Nairobi Serena Hotel, he replaces Mr. Daniel Kang’u who will be starting a new chapter with Serena Hotels in Kampala.
Mr. Chege has worked with Serena Hotels for over 22 years. For the last 8 years he was in the position of Country Manager, Serena Hotels Uganda. Looking after two hotels, the Kampala Serena Hotel and the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa. While in Uganda, he was involved in the refurbishment of the facility that saw it increase its inventory from 152 rooms to 189 rooms.
The Kampala Serena Hotel has remained a Leading Hotel in Uganda winning several accolades during the period. This includes The World Travel Awards as the Leading Hotel in Uganda an award that the hotel has maintained for many years. It has hosted many international conferences and has been the preferred hotel for senior delegations and executives visiting the country. Whilst In Uganda, he was privileged to Chair the Uganda Association of Conference Incentive Industry (UACII), a professional Association formed by the private sector, to support the MICE industry in the Tourism Industry.
Prior to Uganda, Mr. Anthony Chege worked in Tanzania at the Kirawira Camp and as the General Manager at Zanzibar Serena Hotel.
During the interview with Go Places he said that he was pleased to be back home after 19 years and glad to be taking over the newly refurbished Nairobi Serena and looks forward to working in this beautiful facility in the great city of Nairobi. Anthony Chege is married with three children and he said that his wife Eunice has been a great support in his career development.
