Go Places Digital Highlights Kenya Wildlife Service’s E-Citizen Induction Forum

Go Places Digital, a leading player in the digital landscape, proudly reports on its participation in the recent E-Citizen Induction Forum organized by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS). The forum, which took place on August 30th, 2023, at the prestigious Clubhouse within Nairobi National Park, marked a significant milestone in the tourism sector. The event focused on the successful implementation of the eCitizen portal for seamless entry into KWS parks, thereby streamlining visitor experiences and supporting conservation efforts.

The E-Citizen Induction Forum was a momentous gathering that brought together key stakeholders from the tourism industry and Kenyan Government. The focal point of the event was to introduce eCitizen platform for payment and entry into National Parks in Kenya, which has been in operation since August 22nd, 2023. This platform is poised to revolutionize the way visitor’s access KWS parks, reserves, and sanctuaries.

Dr. Erustus Kanga, the Director General of KWS, warmly welcomed Kenya’s esteemed tourism stakeholders to the forum at Nairobi National Park. Dr. Kanga expressed the organization’s unwavering commitment to outstanding service delivery and efficient operations at all entry points to KWS-managed areas. He emphasized the importance of adhering to legal mandates and facilitating smooth processes for park entry and licensing services.

Amb. Isaac Ochieng, Director General of E-Citizen, took the stage during the forum to highlight Kenya’s leading role in Africa’s digital transformation of government services. Amb. Ochieng stressed that getting this initiative right would not only enhance convenience and service delivery but also significantly contribute to the national budget, supporting essential programs and projects.

The E-Citizen platform’s integration with revenue collection processes at Kenya Wildlife Service is set to elevate efficiency, transparency, and accountability. Silas Oswe from the National Treasury’s Government Digital Payments department underscored that this integration would lead to improved data sharing and create a centralized access point for all government services. Such modernization aligns with the government’s Digital Economy Blueprint and underscores its commitment to providing accessible and effective services.

Gen. Lt. (Rtd) Walter Raria, Chairperson of KWS’s Board of Trustees, hailed the transition to the eCitizen platform as a monumental step in transformation. He highlighted the initiative’s strategic importance in the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, positioning KWS as a pivotal partner. The move to eCitizen showcases KWS’s dedication to modernization and efficiency while fulfilling its vital role in wildlife conservation.

In response to this paradigm shift, all park entry payments are now exclusively processed through the eCitizen Government platform at https://kws.ecitizen.go.ke. Notably, alternative payment methods will no longer be accepted at KWS Parks, Reserves, and Sanctuaries.
