Culinary Arts In Kenya
The Boma International Hospitality College is in partnership with Business & Hotel Management School in Lucerne, Switzerland. The college started off with 35 students in May 2015 and has grown to a student population of 927 students to date.
This year, The Boma International Hospitality College was pleased to see over 80 students graduate on the 15th of November 2019 at The Boma Complex! Among the graduates were students from East Africa, Nigeria, Madagascar, and the USA. Our students graduated with Diplomas in both Culinary Arts and Hotel Management and Certificates in both Culinary Operations and Food and Beverage Knowledge.
The ceremony was honored by the chief guest H.E Ambassador. Dr. Ralf Heckner – Swiss Ambassador to Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda who also commissioned our BRAND NEW facilities, which included a Resource Center and Lecture Rooms. In attendance during the Commissioning Ceremony were outgoing Secretary-General of the Kenya Red Cross Society, Dr Abbas Gullet and Chair of the BIHC Board of Directors, Ms. Gina Din – Kariuki. These new facilities were necessitated by the growth in student numbers at the College over the years and we will now proceed with Phase II of the expansion project, which will see us
develop a new state-of-the-art Training Kitchen, Pastry Kitchen, Fine-dining Restaurant and Coffee Shop.
Among the success stories of our 3 rd Graduation Ceremony was Michael Ekwulonu who was awarded a scholarship by the Swiss government to join BIHC. Having completed his first year of studies, BIHC and The Boma Hotels offered him another scholarship in order to complete his Swiss Diploma in Hotel Management.
Michael then got the opportunity to go to the United States of America through BIHC & International Internships Network where he went on to be awarded Intern of the Year! We currently have a January 2020 Intake ongoing and we look forward to welcoming more students to our family.
