A Dining Experience At Li’s Chinese Restaurant Nairobi

If you’re a frequent diner, or not, there are few eateries that top our personal lists as a favourite. A restaurant we can frequently visit during our busy schedules for some much-needed rest and relaxation, over our favourite dishes of course (a couple of new creations on the weekly specials menu), is ideal for when you’re with friends, family, colleagues or clients, one that offers impeccable service, features a great selection of beverages, and added privacy when you require it – a place you can truly call your home-away-from-home. Everyone has their personal preferences, but all in all, we can confidently say Li’s Chinese Restaurant Nairobi could very well become one of your favourites too.

The first Li’s in Mombasa, after opening its doors, quickly earned a name for itself as the restaurant that serves-up superb Indo Chinese Cuisine, offering guests a convenient location whether for business or leisure (or a little bit of both). This is indeed what you can expect in Nairobi, albeit set against the beautiful green backdrop of Gigiri. Conveniently located at the new Petrocity complex makes it an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of the capital, but also within easy reach to most major parts of the city too. As soon as you step off the elevator onto the 2 nd Floor, pass by their delightful open-air terrace, you’ll almost invariably be drawn-into Li’s charming welcome area complete with comfy guest seating.

 

GREAT HOSPITALITY AND A WARM WELCOME AWAITS

Here you are met by the hostess that customarily meets, greets and confirms your bookings, before leading you to your reserved tables. The first thing that catches the glimpse of your eye as you take your seat, is a placard bearing your name in the centre of the table – which almost defines what diners can expect. Your personal waiter or waitress proceeds to introduce themselves before flawlessly guiding you through 3 different menus, including the Main, the Specials and the Beverage, helping you pick out one indulgent creation after another. Whatever your dietary requirements, whatever your preferences, whether veg or non-veg, you can expect wholesome portions and only the finest and freshest farm produce and ingredients used in your dishes.

 

FOR STARTERS & SOUPS

As you peruse through the appetizer section you’re hit by deliciousness in every direction, and yes Li’s legendary starters do make it very difficult to choose one over the other. But worry not, because your server is guaranteed to recommend options that’ll truly satisfy your cravings. Here’s just some of what we tried and loved; the Tom Yum Prawn Soup, the Chilli Cashew Nuts, the Spicy Chicken Lollipops, the Golden Fried Prawns and Li’s Lamb Spare Ribs (a must-try).

FOR MAIN COURSES

After your awe-inspiring appetizers, it’s onto a sumptuous range of wholesome main courses. Again the choices are endless here, with everything from flavoursome vegetarian options, to delicious chicken dishes, succulent beef & lamb, and ocean-fresh seafood delicacies – you’re in for an absolute treat. Here’s just some of what we dabbled in; the Sweet & Sour Chicken, the Beef in Oyster Sauce, the Sizzling Lamb and one item that peaked our senses was the Shanghai Styled Fish (simply amazing).

 

DELECTABLE DESSERTS

A palate-cleansing dessert is always on the cards, and no meal is complete without one at Li’s. For dessert, we had the highly-recommended Date Pancakes and the Banana Fritters, and yes our waiters’ recommendation was well-received. What a great ending to a meal.
