Visit Lord Willam Macmillan’s Castle

Lord William Northrop Macmillan (1872–1925) was a decorated American soldier and knighted by the King of England, even though he was not British. He was a huge man raised in St. Louis, Missouri, United States and arrived in Kenya in 1904 on a shooting expedition.

This 32-roomed castle has had a glorious past and has seen illustrious guests such as Ewart Grogan, Theodore Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Sir Evelyn Baring and Prince Amedeo, (Duke of Aosta, the commander of the Italian Forces in what was known as the East Africa Campaign when Italy declared war on the United Kingdom and France on 10th June, 1940 during the Second World War).

We organize outdoor dining experiences through bush lunches, dinners and picnics with customized menus created by our executive chef, based on the clients taste and preferences. We also offer food and beverage paired menus including biting apertif, whisky before meal and a digestif after meal. Wine and food pairing menus are also available

 

Nature Trail, Trekking and Bird Watching

Enjoy this activity early in the morning to be able to view different species of birds found within the compound. On a seasonal basis over 75 species of birds can be found in this area. On this trail you will also be able to visit the Lord Macmillan Grave Site as you trek the Kilimambogo Mountain
