10th East Africa Safari Rally Classic Saw Baldev Charger Take Victory
An incredibly measured strategic, drive-by Baldev Charger and Drew Sturrock saw them retain their lead through day 9 and claim victory in the 10th East Africa Safar Classic Rally in their Karbras sponsored Porsche 911.
The superfast Swede, Patrick Sandell maintained his chargeback through the field after his broken driveshaft, setting an amazing 8 fastest stage times out of the 21 but simply ran out of time. He overhauled Ian Duncan to secure overall in his Tuthill Porsche 911, leading Kenyan motorsport legend Ian Duncan’s Rover home.
Behind the top three was another amazing recovery drive by returning Kenyan start Lee Rose to seal the fourth position. Philip Kadoories took fifth after Piers Daykin on his debut incurred road penalties in his Datsun 240Z. The remainder of the top ten was Kris Rosenberger, Joost Van Cawenberge, David Danglard and Federico Polese, all like Kadoorie in Tuthill prepared Porsches.
At this stage all results are provisional but the 10th Safari Classic has been one of the most competitive ever and certainly the fastest a celebration of Kenya
