Nairobi, Wednesday, 07th April 2021: Kenyan Tourism stakeholders will be showcasing their products and experiences virtually in this year’s World Travel Market (WTM) courtesy of covid-19 pandemic that has paralyzed travels and physical meetings.
During the virtual exposition that takes place between the 7th and 9th of April, Kenya will be represented by five companies from the private sector and the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB).
The Travel trade will have an opportunity to market Kenya to the world and provide an avenue for networking and discussing issues that are currently affecting tourism and travel.
Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) Chairman, Mr Jimi Kariuki said that WTM has for a long time acted as an avenue for African countries to showcase themselves and deliberate on issues concerning tourism. He also noted that he was confident the event would be successful even without being physical.
“We are currently going through a global health crisis that has made it impossible to hold meetings and exhibitions especially because of the physical nature of tourism and travel. But this also provides us with an opportunity to innovate and come up with solutions to benefit the industry, the virtual space provides us with this avenue” Said Mr Kariuki.
WTM is an annual event that showcases Africa’s tourism offerings, it is the leading B2B exhibition for the inbound and outbound African travel & tourism markets. Through its industry networks, global reach, and regional focus, WTM Africa creates personal and business opportunities providing industry players with quality contacts, content, and communities.
“WTM among other expos and events we take part in have played a critical role in creating a link between us and our key source markets. This travel mart will bring together Africa’s tourism stakeholders and other international tourism players, we hope to create synergies and ensure that destination Kenya remains alive and fresh in people’s minds and gain knowledge as well from other players from across the continent and beyond” added Mr Kariuki.
For trade members to be eligible to participate in the event, one must be a registered member of a travel trade association in the country with Registration being confirmed on receipt of a duly filled registration form and payment of the participation fee.
