Tour Operators Society of Kenya – TOSK has been Appointed as One of the Bodies under the Kenya National & Tourism Recovery Task Force
Tour Operators Society of Kenya (TOSK) is a business membership organization that was established in 2015. Founded out of the need to bring together associated tourism enterprises in an incubation hub for nurturing tour operators to offer quality products and services to both domestic and inbound tourists.
The tourism industry’ is one of the major industries that have been affected due to the global pandemic’ Covid-19 and In a coordinated response towards the recovery of the tourism sector in Kenya, a 17-member Taskforce has been formed under the direction of the Cabinet Secretary of Tourism and Wildlife’ Honorable Najib Balala.
The Tour Operators Society of Kenya (TOSK) has been appointed as part of the Tourism Recovery Task Force and will be represented by their CEO Anthony Ochieng. On this appointment Anthony’ stated that he will play an interactive role by taking into consideration the TOSK members challenges that they are facing through this unprecedented time and work on strategies together’ that would help in the tourism recovery and presenting these ideas to the tourism recovery task force committee to see how best these issues can be addressed. He also mentioned that he will effectively communicate the set protocols that members of TOSK will need to enforce moving forward to ensure the safety of their clients.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, the Cabinet Secretary’ Honorable Najib Balala said,
“we have appointed a 17-member task-force to establish guidelines in response to COVID- 19. Some protocols are ready and some not yet. We urge every sector to come up with their own protocols. All these protocols must align with the Ministry of Health measures so that we can have safety and hygiene for our people.”
He added that the protocols will be common and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be localised so that when the Government eases the restrictions on the economy, the protocols will be in place for the sector.
The Taskforce has been mandated to undertake the following;
- Develop tourism and hospitality health and safety protocols
- Develop guidelines for the implementation of the protocols
- Propose implementation approach for the protocols
- Make recommendations for effective compliance and self-regulations of the industry ‘ in the implementation of the protocols
- Identify and recommend areas of support needed during implementation of the protocols
- Compile and submit 10 the Cabinet Secretary a Taskforce Report and the Draft Protocols
- Any other task assigned by the Cabinet Secretary to fulfil the objective for which taskforce has been established.
