Let’s Go Places Together
Twenty four hours doesn’t seem like much time to explore a famous city like Sydney. But if you plan it right, you can tick quite a few of the must-do things here off your list. Start by making sure that you have arranged an E-visitor visa prior to your flight into Sydney, as the immigration queues at the airport can be quite long.
GoodMorning Sydney!
As most flights arriving in Sydney arrive early in the morning, you might be lucky enough to watch the sunrise on your way into the city. Once you have settled down, stop by Pablo & Rusty’s at 161 Castlereagh St. for a mouth-watering breakfast and a delicious coffee. You’ll need the energy for all the activities that you’ll be doing later. Sydney is best enjoyed by spending your time outdoors, so make sure you have light clothes on and a pair of comfortable shoes on your feet, as there will be a lot of walking to do.
The Sydney Opera House
You can start your day at the famous Sydney Opera House. Known for its unique architectural structure, the Sydney Opera House is quite a sight to behold in real life. Tours are available for those who may want to know more about its history and see what it looks like on the inside. Not far from the Opera House is the Royal Botanical Gardens, where Mrs. Macquarie’s chair is located. Carved in 1810 for the Major General Lachlan Macquarie’s wife, this little bit of history is the perfect spot from which to get the best views of both the Sydney Opera House and the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge.
For more picturesque views, head to the Sydney Tower Eye observation deck. It’s the perfect place to see the city from the top and pick out different places that are not as easy to see when walking through the city streets.
Surf’s Up In Bondi Beach
Beach lovers can then spend the afternoon in one of the world’s most famous beaches, Bondi Beach. Here, you can also enjoy a delicious lunch from one of the nearby restaurants as you watch the surfers show off their skills on the huge, endless ocean waves. Afterward, you can enjoy a short walk to the coastal suburb, Coogee, where you’ll get an idea of how the Australians on this side of the city live. Enjoy a drink at one of the laid-back pubs before making your way back to the Sydney Harbour Bridge in time to watch the sunset. It’s a great time for Instagrammers to capture some unforgettable pictures of the sun setting in Australia. Another popular beach in Sydney is Manly Beach, which locals prefer as it’s less populated at any given time in comparison to Bondi Beach. A ferry takes passengers to the beach from Circular Quay every half hour. The journey takes half an hour as well, and the ferry passes right between the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, allowing passengers to admire the two to their hearts’ content.
Dinner In Surry Hills
Depending on what you prefer, you can either choose to have a Japanese meal for dinner at the Sake Restaurant and Bar or a mouth-watering steak at The Cut, a New-York inspired restaurant. If you’re in the mood for a burger, you can head down to Surry Hills where you’ll have the option of either eating at Ume Burger – another Japanese restaurant – or Butter Sydney. Both are equally delicious and are sure to fill your now empty belly. To finish off the night, you can either head back to the Sydney Opera House and enjoy a live performance there; or have a nightcap in one of the nearby cafés and get to know some locals.
Enjoy The Nightlife In Kings Cross
For a good time out in the town, head to Kings Cross. There’s a train that goes there from Town Hall. Here you’ll find the World Bar, where you’ll meet backpackers from all over the world and get to enjoy teapot cocktails until the early hours of the morning. Make sure you get home safe by taking an Uber, as the public transport tours come to a halt towards the end of the night.
Tip: Although Sydney is known for its warm weather, it’s advisable to have at least one pair of warm clothes as it gets chilly from time to time.
